Gregor on road to Beijing - 200 Backstroke

Gregor Tait again broke the British Record and set a new Commonwealth Record of 1:56.67, on his way to Olympic nomination for the 200m backstroke. The City of Edinburgh swimmer has now qualified for both the 100m and 200m backstroke events for Beijing and was pleased with his week’s work.

"I'm happy with my swim and a new personal best after breaking the British record yesterday," he said.

"I went out too hard in the heats yesterday and didn't have much left in the tank at the end of the race so I was much better paced today."

Tait’s Edinburgh team-mate, Kirsty Balfour, secured her nomination for the 100m breaststroke, finishing second in the final in a time of 1:08.05.
