Alena Popchanka swam a personal best in the 50m freestyle when she won the race in 24.49. She also won the final of the 100m freestyle in a strong 54.79. Alena is now racing the Paris Open with the french team, and will travel back to canet where CES is based for the Olympic preparation.

Gregor Tait won from lane 8 the final of the 100m backstroke in the time of 55.38. Gregor also got the silver in the 200m backstroke, swimming a best seasonal time in 1:59.18. Gregor was recently part of the development of the new Powerade advertising campaign, and he can now focus on his training.

In the 200m breaststroke, Kris Gilchrist won the dual against french star Hugues Duboscq. His time of 2:12.92 was slightly slower than his winning time from Rome. Two positives wins under the belt of our world champion.

Kirsty Balfour came third in the final of the 200m breaststroke, in the time of 2:29.00. Kirsty recently tested the new Arena racing suit in Rome, and will race in Liverpool her last prerparation meet with the finalised suit.

During the opening evening of the competition, CES coach Chris Jones was awarded with the 'Chou-Fleur' Trophy from the meet referee Michel Sales. A special congratulations from our french colleagues for Chris's contribution in the Canet meet.
