Day 3, 11 Aug 2008

Kirsty Balfour (City of Edinburgh Swimming) finished eighth in the first of the 100m breaststroke semi-finals posting a time of 1:09.23, which did not see her progress to tomorrow’s final.

Speaking after the race, Balfour said,

“I don’t really know what happened there. I felt really good, very awake, but the time is slow.

“I have a day off tomorrow before my main race, the 200m breaststroke, so I can now focus on that.”

Balfour’s Edinburgh team-mate, Gregor Tait was also in action this morning, in the semi-final of the 100m backstroke.

Swimming out in Lane 8, Tait swam a good, solid race and posted a time of 54.37, just outside his own Scottish Record.

After the race, the Scot was in upbeat mood,

“That was good, faster than yesterday so I can’t complain.

“I think I was 12th after the last Olympics, and 12th this time round and now I can really focus on my main event, the 200m backstroke.”
