Tait Through to Olympic Final

Gregor Tait was also in semi-final action this morning session, and his men’s 200m backstroke time of 1:56.72 was enough to ease him into Friday’s final (10.19 local time, 03:19 BST) as sixth fastest qualifier. He will be joined by the joint world record holders Aaron Peirsol and Ryan Lochte (both USA).

“My aim has always been to make the final and then take it from there,” said Tait. “It’s a class field, but anything is possible then.”
