Day 2 Finals, 11 Jun 2007


The evening session opened with Gregor Tait warming up in a 50m Sprint for his 2 main events later in the evening. Gregor managed to take 8th place with a slightly improved time of 26.71 from his heat.

In an exciting 200m Freestyle Alena Popchanka was the first of the CES swimmers to climb onto the podium with a 3rd place in a time of 1.59.88.

She was quickly followed by Gregor Tait who finished in 2nd place in the 200m backstroke in a time of 2.01.76.

Alena had little time to recover before diving in for the 400m freestyle and quickly showed her fitness by leading the international field to victory in 4.11.60.

Hannah Miley who has been training with CES this week in Canet prior to the competition followed to the top place on the podium with a win in the 200m IM in a British and Scottish Record time of 2.14.57.

In the men’s 200 IM a surprise disqualification of Kitajima moved Kris Gilchrist up to 2nd place in 2.05.65 and Gregor Tait finished 10/100th behind to take 4th place.
