Tait in Scottish record, 30 Jul 2007
Scottish Record for Gregor Tait Another Scottish Record fell this evening at the ASA Swim 21 National Youth Championships & ASA National Championships (50m) 2007 in Ponds Forge, Sheffield. Gregor Tait from City of Edinburgh Swimming broke the Scottish Record on his way to a bronze medal in the final of the Men’s 50m Backstroke. Liam Tancock of Loughborough University won the event in 24.96 with Matt Clay of Swansea Performance Centre securing silver in 25.72.
Tait’s time of 25.93 is the first time the 28-year old has gone sub 26 seconds and he was clearly pleased. “That’s a big PB for me. It’s been a long time coming to try and get under 26 seconds. I’ve had no rest so to be able to go that speed is really encouraging. “I use the 50m event to build up my speed and I’m always pleased to have the opportunity to race against that calibre of field.”
