City of Edinburgh Swimming - Paris, Open LEN meet.
CES swimmers Robyn Mattews, Megan Gilchrist, and Alena Popchanka, took part at the Open meet in Paris, from the 02nd to the 05th of August.
For her first British Senior Team, Robyn Mattews swam the 400 IM in a time of 5:03.65 (19th), the 100 breaststroke in the time of 1:15.83 (26th), and the 200 breaststroke in the time of 2:45.08 (21st). Robyn was also a finalist when she took part of the 4x100 IM final with the GB team.
Megan Gilchrist swam in Paris her first GB Senior Team as well. She confirmed her big improvement this summer in racing the 200 freestyle in the time of 2:03.07 (20th), and in the same morning she swam a pb in the 200 IM, in the time of 2:20.86 (19th).
Alena Popchanka, who competed for the french team, swam an amazing competition returning from a training camp in China. In the 100 freestyle she raced the world record holder (Steffen Britta, GER) and got the silver medal with a pb in 54.60. The french 4x100 freestyle won the gold, with Alena finishing the relay in the split time of 54.28. She came second in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.26, and very soon after got the bronze in the 100 fly in the time of 59.13.
Alena is now taking some time off, she travelled to Belarus to visit her family. Robyn and Megan will take part in the home training camp with Chris Jones, from the 13th to the 27th of August. Megan will also race the UK school championships, in Coventry, on the 25th of August.
