Michael Scott visit to City of Edinburgh Swimming.
New head of British Swimming, Michael Scott, congratulated City of Edinburgh Swimming's Fred Vergnoux on being named UK Coach of the Year for a second consecutive year and met Kirsty Balfour, Gregor Tait, Kris Gilchrist, Alena Popchanka and the rest of the team.
Michael Scott began his role as British Swimming's 'High Perfomance Consultant' on Tuesday. The 51-year-old Australian has been involved in swimming for a large part of his life, has a wealth of experience in high performance sport and most recently was Chief Executive of the Melbourne World Championships.
Vergnoux, who has been in post at City of Edinburgh Swimming for the past three years, credits his award to the team: "Obviously, I'm absolutely thrilled to have received this award once again but it's really testiment to how hard the guys have worked in the pool over the past couple of years. And, of Michael Scott, he adds: "I have great respect for Michael's achievements in swimming and think he's the perfect man to build on the foundations laid down by Bill [Sweetenham]."
